There's something about the fresh fall air for an outdoor wedding that perfectly compliments the atmosphere. While summer may be a fan favorite time to get married, we love how the changing of colors, falling of leaves and crisp breezes are able to inspire some beautiful creations. We've scouted out some of our favorite fall wedding trends of this year and absolutely can't wait to see what else emerges as the season continues!
Fall Wedding Cakes
Long gone are the days of traditional topped cakes and the season for humble tiers and clean, textured designs with bunches of blooms or greenery have arrived! Use the fall colors to your advantage and carry your fall color palette over to your cake by dressing up the sweets with caramel or ganache.
Another trend we are loving is the translucent cake! Instead of totally bare tiers, translucent cakes have thin veils of frosting with just a tiny bit of the cake showing through. Definitely a trend you'll want to take advantage of if you don't want to completely say goodbye to icing. Opt for a smaller cake this season and try a dessert station to keep guests' sweet tooth satisfied all evening.
The new, new hot pick right now? Pies!
Creative Food and Drink Stations
We fangirled over the dessert bar trend that hit the wedding scene this summer and we love that food and drink stations are back in the game this fall. This is one of the best ways to personalize your wedding and share unique & quirky interests about you and your hubby. Whether it be a gourmet coffee stand, a build-your-own bar or even a BBQ station, try adding in your favorite dishes so that guests can get in on your favorites.
Fall receptions are on of our favorites. The cool, crisp air makes for perfect weather all season long. Step up your decor game this season with tall candles or centerpieces. Take advantage of the space between tabletops and the ceilings and add in a touch of outdoors. No matter the theme, leafy fall branches will look stunning under the fall night.
Wine-Colored Flowers & Bouquets
We absolutely adore the new color palette for fall. Ranging from plum to burgundy, the dark hues look stunning for centerpieces of in your flowers. With the green and leafy trend kicking it up a notch, wine-colored flowers are in and can spruce up a tabletop or arrangement. Instead of giving your florals a pop of color with a new stem, try adding berries to the mix.
Looking to add a whimsical appeal? Small vines of ivy will give it that unexpected add in and capture the outdoors and the season.
Two Dresses, One Night
While we swooned over the two piece wedding dresses from the summer, fall means dropping temperatures and longer sleeves at night. Try switching things up and opting for a more relaxed and cozy number for the reception. You'll have more room to dance the night away and be dressed for the low-temps.
